November 4: Big Gestures

Move over, Jackson Pollack. This evening I am working on a series of sketchbook assignments for my online class, taught by mixed media artist, Jane Davies. These are exercises, not finished products. In fact, when they dry, I get to cut them up and collage with them. I am having fun being an Abstract Expressionist in black & white.

  1. Looks like fun! I haven't been keeping up with my blog reading, but going back through your daily posts I like what you've been working on.

    1. Thanks, Ms. Pocket. The sketchbook practice class is teaching me a whole new way to approach art. I'm not going to be permanently abstract expressionist, but it helps me work on my sense of composition and is giving me practice using a layers of different media.

  2. I took a class in person from Jane and just love her style - and I love your gesture drawings. Your top one in black & white is fabulous and looks like so much fun - I may just have to pull out my bl/wht paints too! Thanks for the visit (in Seattle).
